Mrs. Deborah Williams

Deborah Williams is an Assistant Professor and Dean of the College of Business and Social Sciences. She was previously the Interim Dean of the College, Chair of Accounting and most recently Interim Associate Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs. Prior to joining WVSU, she was employed as a lecturer at West Virginia University, teaching primarily in the areas of managerial accounting and accounting information systems. 
Ms. Williams has served the business and economics programs at WVSU in several different capacities.  She successfully led the business and economics programs through reaffirmation of accreditation with the Accreditation Council of Business Schools and Programs.  Ms. Williams was active in the implementation of fully online degree programs at WVSU in the areas of management and accounting.  She has spearheaded curriculum development due to changes in the business environment, including legislative changes with respect to CPA exam candidate qualifications. 
Prior to entering academics on a full-time basis, Ms. Williams worked for the Monongahela Power Company, where she was elected to the office of Assistant Comptroller.  She represented Monongahela Power on numerous external trade groups, including the Edison Electric Institute.   Ms. Williams also has experience with non profit entities, most recently with the YMCA of Kanawha Valley.
Ms. Williams has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1985.  She is a member of the West Virginia Society of Certified Public Accountants and the West Virginia Council of Accounting Educators.
