U.S. Sen. Shelley More Capito and Librarian of Congress to Visit Campus
On Thursday, Feb. 22, U.S. Sen. Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va., and the Librarian of Congress, Dr. Carla Hayden, will visit West Virginia State University where they will speak to students, faculty, staff and administrators.
The Senator and Dr. Hayden will be meeting in the Drain-Jordan Library beginning at 9:30 a.m. WVSU President Anthony L. Jenkins will also be speaking during the visit.
Dr. Hayden was sworn in as the 14th Librarian of Congress on Sept. 14, 2016. Hayden, the first woman and the first African American to lead the national library, was nominated to the position by President Barack Obama on Feb. 24, 2016, and her nomination was confirmed by the U.S. Senate on July 13.
