Dr. Gurupdesh Pandher Named Dean of College of Business and Social Sciences at WVSU

INSTITUTE, W.Va. – Following a national search, Dr. Gurupdesh Pandher has been named Dean of the College of Business and Social Sciences at West Virginia State University (WVSU).

Prior to joining WVSU, Pandher was a Professor with the University of Windsor and an Associate Professor with the University of British Columbia and DePaul University (1999-2007). 

He obtained his doctorate degree in Economics from Cornell University.  He has taught in international business programs in the United States, Canada and Asia and has held visiting positions at the University of Maryland, University of Hong Kong, and The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.  He has received Social Sciences & Humanities Research Council research grants and his work has been covered by the Globe & Mail and Business New Daily.

Pandher has eight years of academic administrative experience as Senior Associate Dean responsible for faculty administration, AACSB accreditation, new program development and school development and representation activities and, previously, as Graduate Coordinator at University of British Columbia’s Faculty of Management responsible for graduate programs. 

In addition to academic experience, Pandher has more than 10 years of professional and consulting experience with organizations including Sunlife Insurance Company, Statistics Canada, IMF, World Bank, Arthur Andersen, Deloitte and FinancialCad.

Pandher’s multidisciplinary research has been published in a broad set of journals including AMLE; Econometric Theory; Entrepreneurship Theory & Practice; Journal of Banking & Finance; Journal of Derivatives; Journal of Economic Theory; Journal of Forecasting, International Statistical Review; Real Estate Economics; Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal; and Strategic Management Journal.
