West Virginia State University Extension Service will have an interactive tent exhibit at the Milton Pumpkin Festival October 6-7. The Agriculture and Natural Resources (ANR) division of WVSU Extension Service will have the Junior Master Gardener Backyard Habitat exhibit with hands-on children activities and WVSU Extension Service Staff will be available to answer agriculturally related questions.

Another must see point of interest on the Pumpkin Park grounds is the demonstration rain garden, located at the Youth Building, developed as a collaborative effort between WVSU Extension Service and the Pumpkin Park Management during the WVSU “In Your Backyard” series of workshops. If you are interested in small fruit production, a small fruits demonstration garden has also been established through a Specialty Crop Block Grant awarded by the WV Department of Agriculture.

Participants of any age are welcome and all questions about gardening will be answered to help with your fall backyard gardening issues and concerns. WVSU Extension Services Backyard Habitat display will be open Thursday and Friday at 9:00 am until 4:00 p.m.

Please contact Melissa Stewart, Extension Specialist for ANR at 304-532-1670 for more information.
