Public Meeting on Strategic Plan

8/25/2011

West Virginia State University (WVSU) will hold a public meeting to solicit input on its 2011 - 2013 Strategic Plan. The event will be at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 30 in Wilson University Union on the campus. A by-invitation meeting will also be held in Charleston earlier in the day.

The document consists of seven goals that will guide the direction of the University for the next three years. As a public institution of higher education, WVSU will take into consideration the input from community members as it finalizes the Plan. Members of the faculty as well as students and staff will also have the opportunity to express their thoughts on the document at meetings on campus. It is also posted on the website for those who cannot attend the meetings.  It can be found at http://www.wvstateu.edu/about-wvsu.  There is also a comment form on the page.  Once comments have been gathered they will be presented to the University’s Board of Governors.

When President Hazo W. Carter, Jr. became president in 1987, WVSU implemented a strategic planning process to formalize its efforts. Strategic planning has ensured that various areas of this University are working together in an organized manner to meet higher education goals. The three-year planning cycle provides a time line for accomplishing goals, objectives and strategies.
