AmeriCorps Positions Available At West Virginia State University

West Virginia State University is recruiting applicants for the WVSU AmeriCorps member positions for 2011-2012.  The WVSU AmeriCorps member positions are funded through the LifeBridge AmeriCorps program.  To be eligible a person must be a U.S. citizen, and complete a successful criminal background check.

The AmeriCorps members will assist WVSU in recruitment and retention efforts. These efforts may include tutoring, serving as mentors, the Early Commitment Initiative, contacting potential new students, recruiting in the local high schools, planning events on campus, etc.

The benefits to the AmeriCorps member are:

"$12,100* yearly living allowance (direct deposited twice a month)

"$ 5,550* educational award at the completion of the term – for college, graduate school, or to pay off education loans

"Health insurance for the AmeriCorps member (spouses and children are not eligible for coverage)

"Deferment of educational debts during service

"Skills for the future – leadership, teamwork, and more

*Please note that the living allowance and educational award does not affect Pell eligibility or Subsidized Student Loans.
