We know Regalia is an important piece of graduation. 
**We made some changes to our Regalia order, to better serve our students. 
The cost of Regalia is included as a service for your graduation fee.

Custom masks will be provided for each graduate. Masks are mandatory for all students, guests, staff, faculty, and platform party.
West Virginia State University would like to engage and welcome our Class of 2020 to return to campus this Fall for a live Commencement Ceremony on Saturday December 11, 2021 at the D. Stephen & Diane H. Walker Convocation Center

We understand the importance in celebrating such a hard earned moment of spot light and to share with family and friends. 

We previously reached out with a survey but understand some students may have missed this oportunity to RSVP. 

If you have not already completed the survey via a text message, please complete the questions in the link below to capture your response and information for an RSVP.  

DEADLINE: 5pm. Friday November 5, 2021.

Regalia previously worn to a virtual commencement should be reused, we can not issue a second Regalia order.

**If you chose to have Regalia shipped to the bookstore in your order, it will be available on Monday Dec 6th at the University Bookstore, located in the student union. 


If you wish to receive Regalia you must order your personal Regalia to size and degree. 
This new process allows students more acuurate fittings and flexibility with available shipping to your door.

Regalia & standard shipping to the Bookstore is included in our service, comes neatly packaged specific for you. 
There is an additional cost for direct delivery to your door (see below).

10/31/2021- Faculty Rental cut off Sunday, October 31st (All applicable charges & fees)

The graduation application fee is $168, the fee is to graduate and is not based on participation.
The fee nor particpation is a certification of completion.

Fee's & Obligations

APPLICATION FEE

All prospective graduates must pay a graduation application fee, regardless of whether they participate in commencement or not. The non-refundable fee is $168 and must be paid at the Cashier’s window, by phone or through MyState. You will receive instructions for picking up your cap and gown, if applicable, later in the semester.

If you do not qualify for your degree the semester in which you originally apply, you must submit a new application for graduation by the deadline in the semester that you will meet the requirements for your degree. If you have already paid your graduation fee, you will not need to pay another graduation fee to re-apply.

FINANCIAL OBLIGATIONS

Financial obligations to the university must be cleared before graduation. Nonpayment of fees will result in the withholding of grades, transcripts, diplomas and certifications.

LIBRARY OBLIGATIONS

Library fees must be paid in full and any libraby equiptment returned before proof of degree is released. 



GUEST TICKET INFORMATION

At this time Tickets are limited toper student. 

These can be picked up from the cashier's office the week prior to commencement,

The West Virginia State University commencement exercise is a very formal academic occasion. Academic regalia is limited to cap (w/tassel), gown, hood if applicable, and University issued academic cords only.

Name Pronounciation
Each candidate’s name is read prior to walking on stage. If you have any concerns with the pronunciation of your name, contact the Office of Registration and Records between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.  Monday through Friday to clarify the proper pronunciation, 304 766-4146, or University Registrar, Roy Simmons at 304-766-3015


Honor Cords
Honor cords may be worn only by those students graduating with academic honors and by students in campus chapters of National Honor Societies.
  • Latin Honor cords will be distributed to those students graduating with academic honors by the Office of Registration and Records starting Monday December 6th. 
  • Regalia ordered to ship to the bookstore will be also be available in the bookstore Monday Dec 6th.

All students must apply to graduate, regardless of commencement particpation.

GRADUATION & COMMENCEMENT PROCESS
Students who wish to graduate from West Virginia State University must apply for graduation by completing an Application for Graduation on the WVSU Registration & Records website. Once a student applies for graduation, the registrar will evaluate the transcript of the applicant. If the registrar certifies that the applicant is on track for degree completion at the end of the given semester, or can be expected to complete their degree by the end of the Summer Semester for May commencement, the student may participate in commencement.

Participation in commencement does not indicate degree completion. Students who fail to complete their academic responsibilities during the final semester must complete all degree requirements before the University confers a degree.

Students will receive diplomas via mail only after all degree requirements and all financial obligations to the university are met. 
Students listed as particpating will receive an email confirmation to the address used to complete any appropriate form submitted.
If you do not receive an email confirmation by Monday, Nov. 15th, please contact the Associate Registrar, Wendy Taylor 
 
**There will not be a rehearsal, students should arrive promptly at the designated time to designated room assignment.
-(Ushers will escort students to proper locations during ceremony.)
