Student Support Services (SSS) has been in existence at West Virginia  State University (formerly West Virginia State College) for over 23 years.  The  SSS program serves over 250 eligible  students each year.  Participants in the program must meet one of the federal guidelines listed below.


·         First Generation Student

(neither parent has a four year degree)  

·         Low Income

·         Disabled


The purpose of SSS is to strengthen academic skills, and to ensure continued matriculation in college, graduate, and professional programs.  Through services such as:


·         Tutorial Services

·         Supplemental Instruction

·         Academic Advising

·         Mentoring Services

·         Graduate School Prep. and Visitation

·         Exposure to Cultural Eve
