Travel Courses

POSC 399-01 (1cr.):  An Introduction to the Political and Cultural Identity of Canada and QuebecA Freshman International Experience.  This one-credit hour course is offered conjointly as a state-wide freshman international experience by West Virginia State University, Marshall University, and West Virginia University in collaboration with the Université de Laval in Quebec City, Canada where students will travel to fulfill the requirements of the course.  Students will participate in a one-day pre-departure video conference and orientation and travel to Quebec City via Niagara Falls May 15-23.

Costs: $700 per student. This will include registration fees for one-credit hour,

transportation by bus to and from Canada, accommodations, lectures, site visits, and some meals.

 

Eligibility: Students must be in good academic and financial standing at their respective

institutions. They must be either finishing their first year or semester as a registered Freshman, or have the credit equivalent of a Freshman. Preference will also be given to students with the

highest university grade point average and who are classified by their home institutions as instate West Virginia residents for tuition-purposes.

 

Application:  Priority deadline to apply is December 4, 2009. Final selection will be made by the state-wide consortium selection committee.
