Ombudsperson Services
The Multicultural Counselor serves as the student advocate for students who wish to report biased-motivated incidents or practices. If you feel that you have been treated inappropriately by another student or by a faculty/staff member, and that inappropriate treatment was based on a bias or prejudice, you may contact my office. If you wish to file a complaint, please review the process below. Once you have reviewed the complaint process, you may click here to file an official complaint (print form & submit it to me). The greatest effort will be made to provide timely attention to and resolution of your complaints.
Complaint Process
If you feel like you have been mistreated due to your race, ethnicity, gender, size, age or sexual orientation call the Office of Multicultural Affairs (766-3084). We may be able to help. The first step in the process is to file an official complaint, which can be done online (click here for the form to print & fill out) or in person (127 Sullivan Hall East). If the complaint is filed on-line, an interview must be held with the claimant before the process can move forward.
The pre-complaint stage will begin as soon as the official complaint is filed and the interview takes place. During the pre-complaint stage, the multicultural counselor will have five days to investigate the case and submit her findings. Depending on the claimant's satisfaction with the investigator's findings, the complaint may be forwarded to the Judicial Affairs Coordinator (if the claim is against another student) or the Vice President for Student Affairs (if the complaint is against a faculty or staff member).
The complaint process is then facilitated by those offices; however, the multicultural counselor will continue to follow the case and will serve as the student's advocate in working to resolve the situation. If you have any questions or would like to set an appointment to discuss a complaint, please call Robin Guillory at 766-3084.
