Mission Statement
PINNACLE is a student organization whose membership consists of non-traditional students at West Virginia State University.  We recognize and promote academic achievement, enrich and enlighten the non-traditional student, and actively address their needs by providing a united voice in campus affairs.

All About Pinnacle!
PINNACLE was officially established in April, 1989 after years of work by higher education administrators and faculty members from several campuses.  These founding individuals recognized that there should be more opportunity for membership in campus organizations and recognition for the non-traditional students.

The group was considering a number of possible names for the organization when a student said, “I don’t care what you call it...but it would represent the pinnacle of my life’s achievements”.  We feel that a membership recognizes and represents a pinnacle in academic endeavors.

Pinnacle has been a recognized honor society on the campus of West Virginia State University since 1990.  The organization was re-charted in 1994 and again in 2001.

Pinnacle Projects
Pinnacle is very active!  We meet regularly and correspond via email.  We are involved in numerous activities on campus, as well as beneficial community projects.  Pinnacle participates in a minimum of four community service projects per semester.

We also believe in the importance of having a social support system while in college, therefore we engage in at least one family oriented social get together every semester.

On Campus Activities
We take an active role in the various activities offered at WVSU.  Some of these events include:  New Student Orientation, Commencement Exercises, Homecoming, Multicultural Festival, Student Recruitment, National Collegiate Alcohol Awareness Week and Safe Spring Break.  Pinnacle was named the “Best Student Organization” by the Student Organization Council of Student Government Association in Spring 2002.

Community Events
We participate in several community projects including Walk-A-Thons, Car Shows and Bell Ringing at Christmas time for the Salvation Army.    We are always welcome to new ideas for organization involvement.
