INSTITUTE, W.Va. –  The 2012-13 West Virginia State University (WVSU) women’s tennis team has been named a national NCAA Division II All-Academic Team by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA).

The ITA honors programs that have a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or higher for the school year. The Yellow Jacket women qualified finishing the 2012-13 school year with a 3.41 average. Junior Jordan Kerns and freshman Diana Cotoros each earned national ITA Scholar-Athlete status, an honor that requires a minimum 3.50 grade point average.

The WVSU squad won the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference regular season and tournament titles and advanced to the round of 32 in the NCAA tournament last spring.

Team members were Brittany Franco, Andreea Slusarciuc, Cora Berna, Cotoros, Kerns, Charlotte Sandy and Amber Schneider.
