Entries Invited for WVSU Student Film Festival
Open to high school and WVSU students

INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- Aspiring filmmakers are encouraged to submit a short film or video to West Virginia State University’s Student Film Festival. The event, which will take place Nov. 28, is open to current high school students, as well as WVSU undergraduate and graduate students.

Entries must be limited to 10 minutes in length for the high school category, 15 minutes for the undergraduate category and 20 minutes for the graduate category. The content of movie entries should be the equivalent, or under, the PG-13 rating. The deadline for submissions is Oct. 17.

Film submissions should be in the form of playable DVDs, enclosed in cases or sleeves. They should include the entrant’s name, mailing address, email address and high school, if applicable, along with a nonrefundable $5 check, per entry, payable to WVSU Foundation, with College of Arts and Humanities in the memo section.

Entrants will be notified by Nov. 1 if their submissions have been selected for screening. The selected entries will then be scored and winners will be chosen by a panel of judges.

According to film festival coordinator, Sam Holdren, “all official selections for the festival will be screened.” Certificates and cash prizes will be presented to the winners in an awards ceremony during the film festival.

Entries can be mailed to: West Virginia State University Student Film and Video Festival, 402 Davis Fine Arts Building, P.O. Box 1000, Institute, WV 25112.

The film festival is a project of the Department of Communications and Media Studies and will be held in the Davis Fine Arts Building on the WVSU campus.
