Brittany Hyatt Named First-Team All-American

INSTITUTE, W.Va. -- West Virginia State University senior Brittany Hyatt has been named a first team All-American by both Daktronics and the National Fastpitch Coaches Association. The Hagerstown, Maryland, native is the first Yellow Jacket player to receive the honor.

Hyatt was previously named the West Virginia Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Player of the Year in both 2010 and 2012 as well Daktronics Atlantic Region Player of the Year for 2012.

A four-time All-WVIAC first team selection, Ms. Hyatt  hit for a .446 average with 31 doubles, 11 home runs, 61 runs batted in, and posted a slick .954 fielding percentage at shortstop.

She led the Yellow Jackets to a runner-up finish in the conference tournament and the second NCAA appearance in program history.

Brittany Hyatt holds 28 WVSU softball program records and was also WVSU’s female Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

The Daktronics awards are voted on by Sports Information Directors at schools fielding NCAA Division II softball teams.
