Lan Wang-Hiles, Ph.D.

Lan Wang-Hiles earned her Ph.D. in English from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, specializing in Composition and TESOL. She earned her MA in Applied Linguistics and ESL from Georgia State University. She also received two BAs in China. One is in English from Hebei University, and the other is in Law from China University of Political Science and Law. Lan Wang has intensive teaching experience in both ESL and EFL settings. She used to teach at SUNY Fredonia before joining West Virginia State University. Her research interests include L2 writing, writing center theory and practice, L2 writing tutoring, second language acquisition, TESOL methodology, L2 assessment, intercultural communication, and pragmatics. She serves as the Director of English as a Second language (ESL) Program. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, photography, and painting.
