Federal Pell Grant

A Federal Pell Grant is a grant, that does not have to be repaid, which is awarded to undergraduate students who complete the FAFSA and meet eligibility requirements.

The amount of the Pell Grant for the 2013-2014 academic year is $5,645. The amount a student receives is based on financial need, cost of attendance, status as a full-time or part- time student, and plans to attend for a full academic year.

Effective on July 1, 2012 students can only receive the Federal Pell
Grant for no more than 12 semesters, the equivalent to 6 years or 600% of Lifetime Pell Eligibility.

Students can view Pell lifetime eligibility (PELLLEU) at www.NSLDS.ed.gov.

Students who receive Federal Student Aid must maintain compliance with West Virginia State University's Satisfactory Academic Progress Policy (SAP).
