At the heart of WVSU’s mission is a deep commitment to meeting the higher educational and economic development needs of the region and the state through innovative teaching and applied research. Our programs are specifically designed for students who are academically ready to embark on the next stage of their educational journey.

As Provost and Chief Academic Officer of WVSU, I have the responsibility and the privilege to provide leadership in the areas of planning, direction, operation, and supervision of the academic programs including student and faculty development. The Office of Academic Affairs, in collaboration with our distinguished faculty, staff, and other administrators, carry out our central mission of educating dedicated students by offering a wide range of curriculums and experiences in four academic colleges: Arts and Humanities, Business and Social Sciences, Natural Sciences and Mathematics, and Professional Studies.

At WVSU, we are committed to student success while ensuring the quality and rigor of the programs. Moreover, we are devoted to recruiting, retaining, and graduating talented students from diverse racial, ethnic, socio-economic, and cultural backgrounds.  Our strong intellectual tradition provides opportunities for students to advance their education and careers by engaging them in applied research and experiential learning activities. We value academic excellence, lifelong learning, diversity, development of human capacities, accountability, and continuous improvement.

From an academic vantage point, this is an exciting time for WVSU with several new programs and initiatives on the horizon. Our dedicated and superior faculty is committed to providing quality education and promoting student success.
