Dr. Darryl Scriven

Darryl Scriven Curriculum Vita
Dr. Darryl Scriven is a native of Jacksonville, Florida, starting from very humble beginnings as  an avid baseball player and Dr. Darryl Scrivenembracing the power of education. Earning joint B.S. degrees from Florida A&M University in Mathematics and Philosophy and Religion, and  M.A. and PhD in Philosophy from  Purdue University, with expansive  experiences as an intern with the US Department of Agriculture, the Carnegie Mellon University, and the University of Florida in Mathematics and the Center for Intelligent Machines and Robotics. Dr. Scriven began his career in academe as a Coca-Cola Fellow and a Graduate Instructor at Purdue University. Promoted  as a full member of the faculty and Director of the Honors Program, and Interim Judicial Hearing Officer at Wilberforce University. Dr. Scriven has advanced throughout  the academy as a scholar, researcher and senior leader with an expansive experiences as an acamedician and administrator as department coordinator, program chair, Director of Education at the Tuskegee University National Center for Bioethics in Research and Health Care, and Fulbright-Hays Scholar to Morocco and Tunisia. 
Currently, Dr. Scriven is Dean of the College of Arts, Sciences, Business, and Education and the John W. and Anna H. Hanes Distinguished Professor in the Humanities at Winston-Salem State University, with the responsibility for 3300 students and 300 FT/PT faculty within 17 Academic Departments, 8 Research Centers, a Fine Arts Gallery, and the Red Sea of Sound Marching Band; and  remains a Non-Resident Visiting Scholar at the Tuskegee University National Center for Bioethics in Research and Health Care, and Chair of the Academic Review Committee for the Journal of Healthcare, Science, and the Humanities since 2015. Dr. Scriven and his wife, Dr. Latricia Edwards Scriven, are the proud parents of three children, Destini, Faith, and Samuel.
